Saturday Thoughts

"Nothing is black and white." -Dr. Closen
Dealing with the complexity of students, parents and staff, nothing is black and white. Every situation is different. We all come from different walks of life. We all have our own unique instruction manual. When trying to handle a situation, following the Code of Conduct book is not always the best solution. Good 'ole common sense and the ability to relate to people can take you a long way in life. Not a lot of book smarts here, but fortunately for me I was blessed with common sense and the ability to relate to people.

I was thinking exactly the same thing as you were to comment on about the first class. This expression really encompasses the essence of education today--even though I have worked for some lousy administrators that would say otherwise...

I guess my Ahh momment came from when you stated that you taught in the inner city. I personal belief is that so many teachers want to help in the inner city but they don't want to build personal relationships with the students. I believe that all administrators should have a internship in both a rural and urban school district. So many times administrators don't have a clue on what it takes to run a school with various geographical, ethnical or educational challenges.
